Spring Film Series: visiting artists Sandra Gibson & Luis Recoder

Saturday, March 14th 8pm | Reception and Performance

The Bridge Film Series is thrilled to host a performance and installation by contemporary filmmakers Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder!

Separately and in collaboration, they’ve built a body of brilliant experimental projection works which stretch the boundaries of “film” and create minimal, yet inviting experiences for the audience. Their work has shown at The Whitney, PS1, The Kitchen, and REDCAT, among other locations around the world. They last graced Charlottesville with their presence in the spring of 2007, with a Virginia Film Society performance at Vinegar Hill; anyone who attended that event will be sure to tell you how wonderful their films are.

On Saturday, March 14th, Gibson and Recoder will perform a live, untitled film work in which two frames of light methodically interact over a soundtrack by Olivia Block. They will also install a gallery piece entitled “Light Spill,” which deals with the accumulation of film. The installation will remain in our small gallery through the end of the month (a nice complement to March’s other projection-related installation); a reception for the installation will precede the performance.
