BING: David Ellis and Roberto Lange
Opening Reception: Friday, September 4, 6-8pm | Exhibition up through September 26, 2009

David Ellis, in collaboration with composer Roberto Lange, continues his experiments with large sculptures that make sound. With Friday’s exhibition at The Bridge the two explore a new work in their series of percussive trash piles and experiment with what happens when a player piano’s inner workings are rewired to play objects usually found at the local dump. Discarded paint buckets, trash cans and piles of debris found in Charlottesville and Brooklyn are fitted with hidden electric drum beaters that play out soulful, intricate rhythms written by Lange. A live painting will be produced on the gallery walls the night of the opening.
