An Evening of Robot Music

Sunday, March 28, 2010 | 8pm

MADI_new1

Expressive Machines Musical Instruments (EMMI) brings you an evening of robotic music. PAM (Poly-tangent Automatic (multi-)Monochord and MADI (multi-Mallet Automatic Drumming Instrument) will be there along with some new friends. The robots are excited to interact with human performers for the first time as Scott Barton premieres his new work for guitar and robotic ensemble.

EMMI is a group of composers seeking new modes of acoustic sound generation. Founded by Troy Rogers, Scott Barton, and Steven Kemper in 2007, our goal is to develop and compose for robotic instruments that maximize temporal, timbral, dynamic, and harmonic possibilities.
